Meet the Baker

Hey there, welcome! I'm Kimbralyn, but most call me Keychel. However, my students will refer to me as Mrs. Latigue. Empowering young minds is my calling and passion; every day I step foot into my classroom, I pour my heart into it.

But when the school day ends, you'll find me in my kitchen in a different kind of classroom. Baking isn't just a hobby; it's my happy place. There's a captivating feeling in mixing flour, sugar, and eggs and watching them transform into something delicious and comforting. It's a labor of love, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

And then there's Louisiana, my beloved home. The sights, sounds, and flavors mean family to me. Every moment is infused with a unique blend of culture and tradition that fills me with warmth.

Amidst all this, I'm also a wife to my amazing husband, known as the Beeman in our community. He supplies Knead for Sweets with his local raw and unfiltered honey, adding a touch of sweetness to our offerings. Together, we make quite the team, blending his love for bees with my passion for baking.

Knead for Sweets is a home-based bakery run out of my home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. As such, it's not subject to licensing and regulations like a commercial bakery, but that doesn't mean any less care or attention goes into every treat I make. It's a labor of love, crafted with the same dedication and skill you'd find in any professional kitchen.

I'm also a mother to my two bonus daughters, who bring endless joy and laughter into our lives. 

But through the hustle and bustle of daily life, my faith keeps me grounded. My faith serves as my constant, my pillar of strength, reminding me of what truly matters in life.

How did it all began?

It all began in the fall of 2020, a moment sparked by the sweetness of my nephew's first birthday celebration. The star of the dessert table? Royal icing cookies, and they were simply divine! Two months later, Knead for Sweets was born.

What started as a simple idea to earn some extra income quickly transformed into something much more profound. Knead for Sweets became my passion project, a humble home bakery rooted in a desire to share the joy of sweet moments that make life extraordinary.

Specializing in royal icing sugar cookies became my signature, each lovingly crafted with care and attention to detail. From birthdays to weddings to everyday celebrations, these cookies became more than just desserts – they were edible expressions of love and creativity, bringing smiles to faces and warmth to hearts.

But the journey doesn't end there. I'm thrilled to share that exciting changes are underway at Knead for Sweets! In the near future, our kitchen will be bustling with the creation of new treats, with delicate and delectable macarons leading the way. These French confections will introduce a new level of flavor and elegance to our menu, and we can't wait for you to try them.

My vision for Knead for Sweets is to become a one-stop home bakery where you can satisfy all your sweet cravings with a variety of delicious treats.
